Perpetrators in Sexual Abuse Cases

Indianapolis Sexual Abuse Attorneys

Video Transcript | Greg Laker:  My name is Greg Laker. I’m a lawyer and a partner at the firm of Cohen & Malad. I am the Chair of our firm’s Personal Injury Practice Group. I’m also a dad. Kids are extremely important to me and to our firm. For the past 30 years, I’ve represented children throughout Indiana and across the country.

Sexual assault cases are unique. They’re unique because, in many of the cases, the victim knows and often is related to the perpetrator. National statistics show that in 7 out of 10 rape cases, the victim knows the perpetrator. In juvenile cases, the percentages are even higher.

There is no one specific profile that fits a sexual predator. They come from all walks of life. Some are wealthy, others poor. Some are well‑educated, others high school dropouts. Some are well‑respected, seemingly fine members of society. Others are career criminals. One thing we’ve learned is you can’t tell a sexual predator by looking at them.

Here are just some examples of the type of sexual perpetrators that our team of experienced sexual assault lawyers have handled over the years. Parents, grandparents, step‑parents, step‑grandparents, and many other relatives.

Teachers, teachers’ aides, coaches, band directors, healthcare professionals, nurses, daycare instructors, roommates, classmates, neighbors. You just can’t tell a sexual predator by looking at them.

Don’t wait. Call an experienced sexual assault lawyer and let them investigate your case. We understand how brave our clients have to be to come forward and tell their story. We are happy to be their voice.
