McAfee Computer Software Consumer Protection Investigation

Cohen & Malad, LLP is investigating McAfee Inc. for systematically charging higher prices to consumers in its software “auto-renewal” program than it charges other consumers for identical products.

McAfee sells computer software products called McAfee AntiVirus Plus, McAfee Internet Security, and McAfee Total Protection to consumers to protect their computers from hackers, computer viruses, and other computer problems. Consumers who purchase a one-year subscription of McAfee software are automatically enrolled in its auto-renewal program once the initial subscription expires.

The company heavily promotes its auto-renewal program as an easy way to renew services at the same price as if they chose a manual renewal or separate purchase. But McAfee charges higher fees to its auto-renewal subscribers than it charges its manual renewal or individual purchase consumers.

If you are an auto-renewal subscriber of McAfee AntiVirus Plus, McAfee Internet Security, or McAfee Total Protection and have been charged a higher fee than manual renewal or individual purchase consumers, we would like to talk with you about your experience. Please call us at 1-866-446-7478 or submit your information through our website and one of our consumer protection attorneys will contact you.
