VisionQuest Eyecare Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Data Breach
Cohen & Malad, LLP filed a class action lawsuit against VisionQuest Eyecare in Greenwood, Indiana, for failing to secure sensitive customer information stored in its computer database. Personal identification information and protected health information of over 85,000 patients was accessed by cyberthieves sometime before January 22, 2017 according to the lawsuit. This information includes names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, social security numbers, insurance information, and medical records. VisionQuest did not notify its patients of the data breach until March 2017. The lawsuit seeks to recover damages related to the data breach.
