Details of this Significant Data Breach
Between December 12 and December 17, 2024, unauthorized actors gained access to servers maintained by Kelly Benefits, a third-party administrator hired by employers to manage payroll and benefits enrollment, including group insurance products from Lincoln Financial. As a result, sensitive personal information of at least 8,848 individuals was accessed and potentially stolen.
Lincoln National Life Insurance Company has confirmed that while its own systems were not breached, files containing individuals’ personal information—originally shared with Kelly Benefits by employers—were exposed during the incident. Affected individuals began receiving notification letters on March 14, 2025, but the full scope of the compromised information has not yet been disclosed.
Reports indicate the exposed information includes:
- Full names
- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
- Tax identification numbers
- Health insurance and medical details
- Financial account information
