Greenwood High School Teacher Hockersmith Faces Child Seduction Charges
Matthew Hockersmith, a Greenwood High School teacher who also serves as head cross country coach and assistant track coach, was arrested Monday, December 13, 2021 on charges of Child Seduction.
Hockersmith has been charged with three felony counts of Child Seduction after authorities discovered text messages between the teacher and a female student that included inappropriate sexual content. The student reported that Hockersmith sexually abused her at least three times. Hockersmith has bonded out of Johnson County Jail and is awaiting a court date. The Greenwood Community School Corporation stated it placed Hockersmith on leave and has begun the termination process.
