Contaminated EzriCare Eye Drops Linked to Severe Infections: Are You at Risk?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have reported that at least 68 people across 16 states have been sickened by an outbreak of extensively drug-resistant bacteria linked to EzriCare eye drops.
This outbreak is caused by a rare and highly dangerous germ that has never been seen in the United States. Health officials believe it was brought into the country through contaminated eye drops manufactured by Global Pharma, a Chennai, India-based manufacturer.
The affected products were sold under the brand names EzriCare Artificial Tears and Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Eye Ointment, which were available nationwide via Amazon, Walmart, and other retailers. Both products have been recalled, and the Food and Drug Administration has issued warnings for consumers to immediately stop using them.
