Data Breach at Banner Health Puts 3.7 Million Customers at Risk

Banner Health announced it discovered a data breach on July 13, 2016 which put 3.7 million customers and patients at risk for identity theft. Banner Health is based in Phoenix with locations in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada and Wyoming. The company stated cyber thieves gained unauthorized access to Banner Health patient database files. These files contained health plan member and beneficiary information, names, birthdates, addresses, physician names, dates of care, claims information, social security numbers, and health insurance information. Banner also stated hackers accessed computer systems that process payment card data at food and beverage locations at some Banner Health facilities. Payment card data including cardholder names, card numbers, expiration dates, and internal verification codes was accessed.

Affected customers have filed class action lawsuits against Banner Health alleging Banner failed to safeguard sensitive customer information and exposed them to identity theft and health care theft. If you were impacted by the Banner Health data breach contact us to speak with a class action attorney to discuss your legal rights and options.
