Amended Class Action Complaint Details Fraud Committed Against TRICARE Beneficiaries
Cohen & Malad, LLP recently submitted an amended class action complaint that details fraud committed against TRICARE beneficiaries after an employee of Science Applications International Corp., a contractor of TRICARE, had stolen from his car, unencrypted computer tapes containing personal information, social security numbers, and other data of over 4.9 million TRICARE beneficiaries. These tapes were stolen on September 12, 2011, and since that time, numerous fraudulent transactions have occurred against many TRICARE beneficiaries.
Healthcare Info Security, a website dedicated to the protection of healthcare information, recently reported on the amended TRICARE class action complaint and the theft of data that triggered the litigation.
