Congratulations to Indy Bar Leader Series Class IX Graduate Sarah Starkey
The Indy Bar Foundation celebrated its newest class of legal industry leaders during a graduation ceremony for its Bar Leader Series Class IX on Friday May 18, 2012. Twenty five attorneys from area firms were selected to participate in the Bar Leader class based on their dedication to the Indianapolis community as well as the legal profession. CohenMalad, LLP congratulates Sarah Starkey for her commitment to this program and her professional development.
The Bar Leader Series offers participants the opportunity to learn leadership and communication skills through hands-on opportunities with notable professionals within and outside of the legal community. Class members were assigned to small groups in order to complete a public service project to develop and demonstrate their teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
Sarah served on the Youth & Education project team. This project involved helping local high school students prepare for college. She and her teammates partnered with the Starfish Initiative, a local nonprofit that assists high school students to prepare and excel in college. Sarah and her classmates helped facilitate a three-part project consisting of a FAFSA/scholarship informational packet distributed to the mentees, conducting mock interviews and evaluating mock college essays.
