Over 885 Million Mortgage Records Hacked in First American Title Data Breach
First American Title Insurance Company confirmed on May 24, 2019 that hundreds of millions of mortgage documents have been compromised through a data breach. Digitized records dating back for more than 16 years were found unencrypted on First American Title’s website. Personal identifying information including bank account numbers and statements, mortgage and tax records, Social Security numbers, wire transaction receipts, and drivers’ license images were all compromised in this data breach.
