3M Sets Aside $1 Billion for ‘Combat Arms’ Earplug Claims

Facing mounting legal pressure, 3M has set aside $1 billion for payouts in earplug litigation and announced its subsidiary Aearo Technologies has filed for bankruptcy protection. This comes after thousands of U.S. military personnel who were issued 3M’s Combat Arms earplugs while on active duty suffered hearing loss or tinnitus. These service members claim the earplugs were defective.

If you suffered hearing loss or tinnitus after using 3M Combat Arms earplugs while serving active military duty, contact us for a free case evaluation. It is not too late, claims can still be filed.

Aearo Technologies, the division of 3M that manufactured the earplugs, is facing almost 300,000 lawsuits from service personnel who have experienced hearing loss or tinnitus after using Combat Arms earplugs during active military duty. To date, juries have ordered 3M to pay out nearly $300 million in judgments to injured military personnel. This amount is in addition to a previous $9.1 million settlement that 3M agreed to pay to resolve claims that its CAEv2 combat earplugs were too short for proper insertion into users’ ears and that the earplugs could loosen imperceptibly and put wearers at risk for hearing-related injuries.

I have an injury from 3M Combat Arms earplugs

If you or someone you know was enlisted in the military between 2003 and 2015 and used 3M combat earplugs, contact us. Our product liability attorneys can advise you of your legal rights and options.
