“Smart” TV Maker Vizio, Inc., Faces Lawsuit Over Privacy Violation
Cohen & Malad, LLP filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers who purchased Vizio “smart” television sets. The lawsuit alleges that Vizio used its Smart Interactivity software to secretly collect personal information regarding consumers’ video viewing habits and sold this information to advertisers and data brokers without consumer knowledge. Vizio has sold more than 10 million “smart” TVs over the past few years to unaware consumers.
