Shaunestte N. Terrell Joins Personal Injury Practice Sexual Abuse Litigation Team at Cohen & Malad, LLP

Cohen & Malad, LLP welcomes attorney Shaunestte N. Terrell to the personal injury practice sexual abuse litigation team. Shaunestte brings a decade of experience helping survivors of sexual abuse, rape, molestation, and human trafficking from her roles as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Resource Prosecutor for the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council (IPAC). Shaunestte has extensive trial experience prosecuting crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking and helping survivors on the path to healing through various activities including leading the effort to develop and implement a statewide Sexual Assault Kit Tracking System.

In addition to her trial work, Shaunestte educates the legal community on basic, intermediate, and advanced trial advocacy issues involving sexual assault, human trafficking, and domestic violence in order to better serve people who are seeking justice through the courts so they can heal from their trauma.

Her compassion for people is demonstrated by her previous work as a Community Outreach Leader for the National AIDS Fund in Charlotte, North Carolina and The Jemsek Project which provided client services to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Shaunestte earned her law degree from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and earned her bachelor degree from Purdue University with majors in History and Psychology. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Indianapolis Bar Association. She previously served as the Chairperson for the Governor’s Council on Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment; Chairperson for the Indiana Sexual Assault Response Team Advisory Council; and member of the Indiana Protection for Abused and Trafficked Humans Task Force.
