Irwin B. Levin Appointed Lead Counsel in MIE Consumer Data Security Breach Litigation
The Honorable Robert L. Miller Jr. has appointed Irwin B. Levin of Cohen & Malad, LLP to serve as lead counsel in a class action lawsuit against Medical Informatics Engineering, Inc. (MIE). Mr. Levin and class action attorneys at Cohen & Malad, LLP filed a lawsuit on behalf of nearly 3.9 million patients whose personal information including names, dates of birth, addresses, social security numbers, and protected health information was compromised in a data breach according to a statement released by MIE in May 2015.
Mr. Levin’s responsibilities include leading all pretrial discovery and coordinating proceedings and representing all plaintiffs in settlement negotiations and hearings. The Court has also ordered Cohen & Malad, LLP to file a master complaint against MIE by March 22, 2016.
