Exactech recalled its GXL Connexion Hip Implant Liners in June 2021 after numerous patients reported serious injury or loss of mobility due to early device failure. If you received one of these letters, you should take immediate action. First, contact your surgeon to schedule a physical evaluation. Second, contact our office. You may have a legal claim to compensation.
Patients who received Exactech GXL Connexion hip implants are at a risk for serious injury. These devices were recalled after a number of patients experienced serious problems and injures related to a failure of the plastic liner component of the implant. Adverse event reports filed with the FDA include:
- Osteolysis (destruction and loss of bone)
- Severe pain and swelling
- Loss of mobility due to join loosening
Corrective surgery is required to fix these problems caused by defective implants. Patients who have undergone total hip replacement surgery and received the GXL Connection implant may be legally entitled to compensation. Many people have already filed lawsuits against Exactech for injuries they sustained after receiving faulty implants.
