Amina A. Thomas
- Meet Amina
Amina is a member of Cohen & Malad LLP’s Sexual Abuse litigation team where she advocates for survivors of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse. She litigates against perpetrators and entities that have negligently failed to prevent sexual abuse from repeatedly occurring under their supervision. Amina also serves on the business services, real estate, and business litigation practice team.
Prior to joining Cohen & Malad, LLP, Amina had the honor of serving as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Judge Melissa S. May at the Indiana Court of Appeals and to the Honorable Judge Heather A. Welch at the Indiana Commercial Court. Amina’s clerkship experience at both the appellate and trial court level has given her a command of courtroom procedure and the litigation process.
In law school, Amina served as the Secretary of the Health Law Society and earned a Graduate Certificate in Health Law, concentrating on topics such as health care law and policy, bioethics and law, elder law, and health care fraud and abuse. Amina also trained at IU Health Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics at Methodist Hospital, focusing on the ethical and legal issues arising for health care providers in a hospital and long-term care facility setting.
