Smart TV Maker Vizio Faces Privacy Violation Lawsuit
Vizio Inc., a manufacturer of Smart TVs, faces a class action lawsuit for violating the privacy of millions of consumers. Class action lawsuits have been filed by people who purchased Vizio Smart TVs with “Automatic Content Recognition” software. The complaints allege this software enabled Vizio to monitor and identify consumer’s video viewing habits. This data, harvested without the consumer’s knowledge, was then provided to advertisers and content providers who targeted specific advertisements to consumers based on this data.
