Testosterone Replacement Therapy Lawsuits Consolidated
A multidistrict litigation (MDL) has been formed that will include all lawsuits filed against manufacturers of FDA-approved testosterone products. Androgel, Androderm, Axiron, and Depo-Testosterone are just a few testosterone replacement drugs that plaintiffs claim have caused serious injury such as heart attacks, strokes, and pulmonary embolisms.
The Judicial Panel for Multidistrict Litigation granted a motion on June 6, 2014, to consolidate lawsuits involving testosterone replacement therapy drugs in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The honorable Matthew F. Kennelly will preside over this litigation.
In January, the FDA announced it was launching an investigation into testosterone replacement therapy products, like Androgel and Axiron, after two studies were released indicating an increased risk for heart attacks, strokes, and serious blood clots.
