TD Bank Faces Lawsuit Over Unauthorized Account Openings
Cohen & Malad, LLP attorneys filed a class action lawsuit against TD Bank for allegedly opening customer accounts without permission. Customers claim TD Bank failed to implement proper safeguards during the account opening process. This allowed cybercriminals to open bogus deposit accounts in customers’ names without them knowing. Many customers state they learned of the unauthorized accounts when they received welcome letters from TD Bank thanking them for opening an account. Some also received checks and debit cards for the unauthorized accounts. Customers also report difficulty in closing the bogus accounts.
