Wendy’s Restaurants Reports Possible Credit Card Breach

By Cohen & Malad, LLP

Fast-food restaurant Wendy’s reported earlier this week that it is investigating claims of a possible credit card breach at certain locations. A spokesperson for the restaurant stated that a pattern of potentially fraudulent charges to credit cards used as payment at some Wendy’s restaurants was identified by payment industry contacts. Since this pattern was identified, Wendy’s has hired a security firm to investigate the claims to determine if a breach occurred. One source stated that reports of potential fraudulent charges were coming mainly from financial institutions in the Midwest.
