Missouri Supreme Court Refuses Johnson & Johnson Appeal in Baby Powder Ovarian Cancer Lawsuit
The Missouri Supreme Court refused to consider Johnson & Johnson’s appeal of a verdict in favor of women who claimed Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Powder and talcum powder-containing products caused their ovarian cancer. In June of this year, a Missouri Court of Appeals upheld the verdict, which the Missouri Supreme Court let stand. Johnson & Johnson said it plans to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. More than 19,000 women have accused the manufacturer of failing to warn about the potential risks that its talcum powder products were contaminated with asbestos – a known carcinogen.
