A class action lawsuit was filed against Swagway LLC for the defective manufacture of its “Swagway Smart Balancing Electric Skateboard”, also known as a hoverboard, after consumers complained these products caught fire while operating and/or charging the battery. Recent media reports state retailers like Amazon and Target have stopped selling these hoverboards due to fire hazards. Airlines have also banned the transport of these devices due to safety concerns.
