Customer Data Compromised after Health Insurer Anthem Hacked
Anthem announced February 4, 2015 that hackers accessed records for approximately 80 million health insurance customers. Anthem has reported that this breach puts personal information such as names, birthdates, social security numbers, physical addresses, email addresses, employee information, and income information at risk.
Anthem is the second largest health insurer in the United States and is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. According to some media reports, this breach is the biggest in the health-care industry since Chinese hackers stole personal data of patients from Tennessee-based Community Health Systems Inc.
