Cohen & Malad served as class counsel on behalf of thousands of residents of Anderson, Indiana who were forced to evacuate their homes as a result of a magnesium fire that broke out at the AMACOR magnesium recycling facility. The fire spread debris over thousands of homes and resulted in the forced evacuation of thousands of area residents. Cohen & Malad negotiated a two phase settlement. The first phase involved environmental remediation and provided for the clean up of the debris distributed by the fire. The second phase provided for direct cash payment to residents who were forced to evacuate their homes on the night of the fire.
